Vita

Laura von Husen was born in 1987 near Bremen.
From the small town she moved to Hamburg in 2008 and studied Illustration and Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences in the design department. 2012 she got her BA and 2015 she finished her studies with a MA degree, specializing in book illustration.
2013 together with 12 other illustrators she founded the collective tapir&klotz, with whom she now realizes projects, for example the anually illustrated pocket calendar, or exhibitions. From 2012–2014 she was also a member of the LUKS-Magazine, an independent illustrative student’s magazine, for which she recently illustrated a text by Daniil Charms. The two issues she worked on won multiple prizes.
Since 2010 she works as a freelance illustrator, mostly doing illustrations for children. But she also feels at home in the field of graphic design, especially Editorial and Layout. Through connecting both passions she has an intuitive feeling for composition and value.

Lauras „poetic picture worlds with tender colours and fondly painted characters communicate strong emotions“ but at the same time „leave much room for own interpretations“.
